Cloud technology seems to be so adamant to make users fall for it. It is OK if the user himself/herself want to  opt for this service but then things get so much ugly when the users are forced to use cloud tech without their wish. Something of this sort is happening with windows 8.1 and Skydrive will not let you go without tasting it and then falling for it in the course of time. Well there are ways you can use to resist this and even give a noble fight against this tendency.  Well it is not that fine when you will realise that there is no in-built methods to disable this service.

Howto_remove_skydrive

You are provided with two ways to disable the cloud service. If you want to remove it completely, you can of course use Group Policy. If you want to do this, you will have to launch Group Policy Editor. Now you may be wondering as to what this is and how to launch this stuff. You need not worry about the first thing and the answer to the second query is here. You will have to press the Windows key and ‘R’ at the same time to launch it and go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ {8E74D236-7F35-4720-B138-1FED0B85EA75}\ShellFolder.
Now you will have to select the option Skydrive from Windows Components, which is in Administrative Templates. You will have to select Config firstly and then navigate as given above.

Now the second method will not remove the service completely but it will do so from the side panel, which is the second best option after removing it completely. For this purpose, you will have to make use of registry editor. Now I would not recommend this option for the average and below-average users as you will have to do some complex steps in this method like you will have to possess the registry key and other stuffs.
